43 more reported Covid-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 21, 2021 (BSS) – Forty-three more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate is showing a rising trend again during the last four consecutive days.

“The 43 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories at the infection rate of 11.44 percent today,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 43 new patients diagnosed today, 20 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 20 new patients include 15 from Rangpur, three from Lalmonirhat and one each from Gaibandha and Kurigram districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:25 pm.

On the other hand, 23 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 23 newly infected COVID-19 patients include 22 from Dinajpur and one from Thakurgaon districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of COVID-19 patients reached 18,563 as 43 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

The district-wise break up of 18,563 patients currently stands at 4,869 in Rangpur, 833 in Panchagarh, 1,562 in Nilphamari, 1,060 in Lalmonirhat, 1,192 in Kurigram, 1,657 in Thakurgaon, 5,648 in Dinajpur and 1,740 in Gaibandha of the division.
