‘National Volunteer Policy’ to be finalized within next month: Tajul

DHAKA, May 20, 2021 (BSS)- Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister and National Technical Working Committee(NTWC)’s Chief Advisor Md Tajul Islam today said the ‘National Volunteer Policy’ would be finalized within the next month.

He said this while addressing the third and final consultative meeting of the NTWC held online today.

As per direction of the minister, the NTWC has already conducted two divisional consultation meetings with stakeholders and partners from Rangpur, Khulna, Rajshahi, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh to formulate the national policy.

The minister said the formulation of a national volunteer policy would help bring the voluntary activities of government organizations as well as private sector and development partners into the mainstream and give government recognition to volunteerism.

To this end, a National Technical Working Committee has been formed which will complete the work of the policy by June 30 through specific terms of reference, he added.

He also informed that a summary of the National Volunteer Policy has already been approved by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently.
