Four more mortar shells found at RU pond
RAJSHAHI, May 20, 2021 (BSS)-Four more mortal shells were recovered from a pond at Rajshahi University today.
Local people found the mortar shells from the bottom of an excavated pond beside the RU’s Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Hall around 4.30 pm.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered those.
Earlier, three mortar shells and a rocket launcher were recovered from the same place of the campus.
RU Proctor Professor Lutfar Rahman told BSS that the recovered mortar shells and rocket launcher were quite old.
He said Shaheed Sahmsuzzoha Hall is located near the pond. The shell might be from the time of Liberation War in 1971, as the dormitory was used as camp by Pakistani Army during the War.
