Abdullah emphasises on physical fitness to achieve target

DHAKA, May 19, 2021 (BSS)- Midfielder Mohammad Abdullah, one of the best local performers in the Bangladesh Premier League, emphasized on physical fitness to achieve the target in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Qatar.

“It’s easier to appear at an international match before playing one or two friendly matches … I think the league has started …… we were involved with the league and played continuous matches ……. we are doing hard training …. I think if our physical condition is maintained properly, everything will be fine with us,” said Abdullah during the team’s third day practice session at Bangabandhu National Stadium today.

Abdullah said training has been decided in the morning so that they can adapt to the weather of Qatar. He hoped that they would be able to cope with the condition there.

Commenting about his teammate Mohammad Ibrahim, who has tested COVID-19 positive, Mohammad Abdullah said it’s natural for any one getting infected with COVID-19… it’s not new issue as they have been dealing with this for a long time and everyone knows how to save himself from getting infected with the virus.

Abdullah informed that the coach instructed them to strictly maintain the heath protocol in the hotel during this COVID-19 situation so that the virus can not spread from one another.

National team’s manager Iqbal Hossain said they have got the COVID-19 test report of all the players and unfortunately Mohammad Ibrahim tested COVID-19 positive. Following the second test yesterday (Tuesday last) he was again tested positive. Ibrahim has been kept in isolation in the hotel room and he is being treated as per the advice of doctor.

Iqbal said a further COVID-19 test of Ibrahim will be done three or four days later and after that a decision will be taken regarding him sitting with the management.

Replying to a question, Iqbal said final test of the whole team including the team’s staffs will be done before flying for Qatar next week.

Replying to another question, Iqbal said the federation is trying to confirm the team’s date of departure which is not confirmed yet. As there are practice limitations for all the participating teams in Qatar so the departure date may defer a little bit.
