Completing students’ academic activities through online classes underscored

GAIBANDHA, May 19, 2021 (BSS)- Speakers in a function here yesterday underscored the need for completing academic activities of high schools and colleges of Sundarganj upazila here through online classes.

“As the institutions are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic situation, most of the students are passing their valuable times through browsing FaceBook, YouTube and other internet related activities and loitering. They are not interested at all to sit down at their reading tables to study academic books,” they said.

They made the comments while addressing an opinion exchange meeting on holding online classes at the auditorium of Sundarganj Upazila Parishad in the district on Tuesday.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad A Maruf addressed the function as the chief guest.

With Upazila Secondary Education Officer Mahmud Hossain Mondal in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Upazila Academic Supervisor Md. Belal Hossain, Principal of Shibram School and College Golam Azam Khan, Head Teacher(HT) of Putimari High School Md. Shahjahan Miah, HT of Belka MC High School Ahsan Habib Khokon and HT of Fazlul Haque High School Md. Akhteruzzaman Sarker.

Teachers said the online classes would play a significant role for the students to study their academic books at homes.

The UNO urged all teachers to hold virtual quality and attractive classes for the students so that they are book oriented and become busy with their studies.

After elaborate discussion, many pragmatic decisions were also adopted to make online classes for the students of high schools and colleges of the upazila effective and fruitful.

Chiefs of the academic institutions of the upazila and journalists of print and electronic media were present, among others.
