DHAKA, May 17, 2021 (BSS)—The preliminary squad of Bangladesh national cricket team will resume their practice session for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka tomorrow after the week-long holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr.

The players however are now undergoing Covid-19 test before coming back to the ground, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official. The first part of Covid-19 test was done yesterday while some other cricketers undergo tests today before all of them enter into the bio-bubble at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel.

“All of the Bangladesh players returned negative in the first Covid-19 and their second test is today. Players with negative results only can enter into the bio-bubble,” BCB chief physician Dr. Debashis Chowdhury said here today.

Subject to their corona result, they will also start practice and therefore the practice tomorrow is scheduled in the afternoon.

Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka cricketers however will have another corona test on May 22, ahead of the first ODI. The three ODIs are scheduled at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on May 23, 25 and 28.

While Bangladesh players won’t go through another test, Sri Lankan cricketers will have a test before leaving the country on May 29.

Meanwhile Bangladesh will play an inter-squad practice game on May 20 at BKSP after which the team management will announce the final squad for the three ODIs.

Visiting Sri Lankan side will also have an inter-squad practice game at BKSP on May 21.

Bangladesh received a blow ahead of the series after fast bowlers Rubel Hossain and Hasan Mahmud were ruled out from the series due to their injury. As they are still in rehab, the chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu informed them that they can’t select a player who is not hundred percent fit.
