Mother, son killed in Gopalganj road accident
GOPALGANJ, May 15, 2021 (BSS) – A mother and her son were killed and
two others injured in a road accident in Char Pathalia area under
Sadar upazila of the district on the Dhaka-Khulna highway this
afternoon.
The deceased were Maryam Begum, 42, wife of Tar Ali Mollah,
resident of Dakshin Fukra village in Kashiani upazila and her son
private car driver Mahidul Mollah, 25.
Gopalganj Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Monirul
Islam said eight members of the same family were returning to their
home in Dakshin Phukra village of Kashiani upazila after traveling
from Tungipara in a private car.
When the private car reached Char Pathalia area of Sadar upazila,
the driver lost control over the steering and hit road side tree of
the highway. The driver Mohidul Mollah died on the spot and three
others injured, when the front part of the private car twisted.
Later, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and
rescued the victims and took them to the 250-bed Gopalganj General
Hospital where mother Maryam Begum died at the hospital, the OC added.
