Preparations afoot to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in Rangpur

RANGPUR, May 13, 2021 (BSS) – All preparations have been completed to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest religious festivity of the Muslims, in the district tomorrow with due religious solemnity in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Officials at Rangpur Divisional Office of the Islamic Foundation today told BSS that Muslim devotees will offer Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at around 6,000 mosques across the district with due religious fervour.

As per directives of the government, the Muslim devotees will offer Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at different mosques in the metropolis and across the district maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and abiding by the health directives.

Following instructions of the Islamic Foundation and local administrations, arrangements of hand sanitizers will be made at the entrances of mosques and no congregations will be arranged in the Eidgahs anywhere in the district.

Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Abdul Alim Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan and high officials will participate in the main congregation at Kachari Bazar Court Jam-e-Mosque in the metropolis at 8:30 am.

Khatib of Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque Alhaj Moulana Hafizur Rahman will conduct the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in the mosque.

If the space of the mosque does not accommodate the Musollis in the first Jamaat, a second Jamaat will be arranged there at 9:30 am.

President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin, Ahmed, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu, city AL President Shafiur Rahman Shafi, leaders of AL and its associate bodies will offer the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at different mosques.

The biggest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation of the district will be held at Rangpur Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque strictly maintaining physical distance and abiding by the health directives in the metropolis at 9 am.

A second Jamaat will also be arranged at Rangpur Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque at 10 am.

Besides, the Eid congregations will be held at Dhap Lalkuthi Baitul Nur Jam-e-Mosque at 8 am, Carmichael College Jam-e-Mosque at 9 am, Radhaballav Takwa Jam-e-Mosque at 8 am and 9 am, Police Lines Jam-e-Mosque at 8 am and Ashrafia Jam-e-Mosque 8:30 am in the city.

Besides, Eid-ul-Fitr congregations will be held at Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Senpara Jam-we-Mosque, Kamarpara Kutubia Jam-e-Mosque, Kamal Kachna Jam-e-Mosque, Pakarmatha Jam-e-Mosque, Bahar Kachna Jam-e-Mosque, Dhap Mohammadpur Jam-e-Mosque between 8 am 9:30 am in the metropolis.
At most of these bigger mosques, the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers will be offered twice or thrice in phases between 8 am and 10:30 am depending on the numbers of the devotees.

Besides, limited numbers of the Muslim devotees will participate in the Eid-ul-Fitr congregations in phases maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and abiding by the health directives at the mosques at all eight upazila headquarters.

The Musollis will offer special munajats seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of departed souls of their relatives, respite from the COVID-19 pandemic and continued peace and prosperity of the country, its people, Muslim Ummah and whole humanity.
