Eid jamaats to be held at mosques in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, May 13, 2021 (BSS) – The holy Eid-ul-Fitr jamaats (congregations) will be held in the mosques instead of open spaces in the port city and different upazilas of Chattogram to curb the spread of coronavirus as per the directives by Islamic Foundation.

However, the two grand Eid Jammats under the auspices of CCC will be held at Jamiatul Falah Complex Mosque at 8 am and 9 am respectively where the first Jamaat will be conducted by Khatib of the Mosque Principal Mowlana Mohammad Alauddin Al Quadery and the second one will be led by its Senior Pesh Imam Mowlana Nur Mohammad Siddiqui .

The other main Eid Jamaats will be held at different venues including Andarkillah Shahi Jame Mosque, Shah Amanat Shah (R) Dargah Maidan, Port Colony Jam-e-Mosque at the same time.

Besides, CCC will also arrange a total of 166 Eid congregations on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Azha at its 41 Wards under the supervision of the concerned ward Councillors.

The decision was taken at a virtual meeting with Deputy Commissioner Mominur Rahman in the chair.

The meeting decided that Eid congregations’ will be held in mosques instead of open spaces to stem COVID-19.

The mosque authorities have been asked to follow the corona related instructions by the government including maintaining physical distances considering the risk of Covid-19 transmission.

Every devotee who will go to mosque for Eid prayers must wear a mask and carry their own jainamaz (prayer mat) and tupee (cap) instead of using those remaining in the mosques.

Soaps and hand sanitisers should be kept at the mosque entrance for devotees to clean their hands before entering the mosque premises.

Social distancing and health directives must be followed when standing in the jamaat for Eid prayers following the guidelines of the Islamic Foundation.

Upazila administrations sources said preparations have been completed to hold a total of 2521 Eid congregations at different mosques of the 15 upazilas in the district by the respective Eid management committees following the guidelines of the Islamic Foundation.

According to the decision, all 2521 Eid congregations will be held at 8 am to 9 am, the sources added.
