Doa mahfil, discussion held on Wazed Miah’s death anniversary
DHAKA, May 9, 2021 (BSS0 – A doa mahfil and discussion was held on the occasion of the 12th death anniversary of eminent nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr M A Wazed Miah.
The discussion and doa mahfil was arranged at Dr Anwar Hossain auditorium of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) head office at Agargaon here today.
Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman joined it as the chief guest with BAEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Md. Sanowar Hossain in the chair.
Prayers were held seeking eternal peace of departed soul during doa mahfil while the discussants recalled the life and works of Dr Wazed Miah at the discussion.
Yeafesh Osman said Wazed Miah was a true patriot and world renowned nuclear scientist.
Imbued with the belief that a country’s economic and social development cannot be possible with the progress of science, Dr Miah made his all-out strides for the advancement of science throughout his life for welfare of the people with his merit, wisdom, conscience and innovativeness, he mentioned.
The minister said because of restless efforts of Dr Wazed Miah, the path of massive development and research has been expanded in different branches of science at the BAEC.
Though he had huge potentials of attaining success in politics, Dr Wazed Miah concentrated on practice of science and its development, he said.
He said Wazed Miah had a dream in his entire life that Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant would be implemented and it is now being implemented.
