Armed UPDF man arrested in Army operation in Naniarchar
DHAKA, May 08, 2021 (BSS) – An armed member of UPDF (Prasit) group has been arrested in a Bangladesh Army operation in Naniarchar area of Rangamati.
The arrestee Mintu Chakma, 39, is also the accused in a case lodged over murder of Naniarchar upazilla chairman Advocate Shaktiman Chakma, an ISPR release said here today.
Acting on tip-off, the army patrol team arrested fugitive Mintu from Sonaram Karbaripara area of Naniarchar at around 3.30pm on Friday and seized a local gun, two bullets, a couple of mobile phone seam cards and four litres of local wine from his possession.
According to the ISPR release, Mintu is an active member UPDF (Prasit) group and is involved in different crimes including extorting in Naniarchar area.
The accused was handed over to Naniarchar Police Station and a case was lodged in this connection under arms act.
