World Red Cross / Red Crescent Day tomorrow

DHAKA, May 7, 2021 (BSS) – World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day will be celebrated tomorrow in the country as elsewhere in the world.

This day is an annual celebration of the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
The World Red Cross Red Crescent Day is celebrated on May 8 each year. The date is the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant (born on 8th May 1828), the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize.

To commemorate this great man with reverence, his birthday is celebrated all over the world every year as World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) celebrates the day with due importance and dignity like other national societies in the world, a BDRCS press release said.

To mark the day, a discussion will be held on Saturday at 10:45 am at the training room of the national headquarters of the BDRCS.

BDRCS chairman Major General (retd) ATM Abdul Wahhab will be present at the meeting as the chief guest.

Vice-chairman of BDRCS Nur-ur-Rahman, its secretary general Md Feroz Salah Uddin and deputy secretary general Md Rafiqul Islam will also be present.
