200 disabled people get food assistance in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, May 6, 2021 (BSS)- Some 200 physically challenged and distressed people badly affected by the present pandemic situation were given food support to make them capable of coping with the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.

Each family got 10 kilograms of rice, one-kg of pulse, chira, onion each, two-kg of potato and 500 liter of soybean oil.

On behalf of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, District Administration distributed the food assistance from its disaster management fund at a simple function at Riverview Collectorate School playground today.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil accompanied by Deputy Director of Local Government Division Shahana Akter Jahan and Kolayan Chandra distributed the food assistance.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Jalil urged the beneficiaries to follow the health safety guidelines for containing the coronavirus infection.

He said the government has been extending foodstuffs to the hard-hit families amid the lockdown to mitigate their sufferings.

Earlier, on behalf of the district administration, 610 poor and distressed families were given food support to make them competent to mitigate their financial hardship being caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic situation.
