Hefazat leader Harun Izhar put on 9-day remand
CHATTOGRAM, May 3, 2021 (BSS) – A Chattogram court on Monday put Hefazat-e-Islam leader Harun Izhar on nine-day remand in three cases filed with Hathazari police station.
Judge Helal Uddin of Chattogram senior judicial magistrate court placed the remand on Harun Izhar, court inspector Md Humayun Kabir of Chattogram district police told BSS.
Hathazari police sought a total of 21-day remand, seven-day in each case, to interrogate Harun Izhar in three cases filed with the police station in 2021 and 2020 on charge of vandalism and setting fire to government offices. The court granted three-day remand in each cases,’ he said.
Harun Izhar, the immediate past educational and cultural secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam, was detained by RAB-7 from Lalkhanbazar Madrassah in Chattogram city at about 12:30am on April 29.
Later, he was handed over to Hathazari police and they showed him arrested in three cases filed in 2021 and 2020.
