Jabbar for making memorial museum for Satyajit Ray.

DHAKA, May 2, 2021 (BSS) – Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar today urged all concerned for setting up a memorial museum in Satyajit Ray’s ancestral home to preserve the memory of such a great man, who is a source of pride for Bengal and Bengalis.

“I call upon the concerned people including cultural activists to come forward to make this great man (Satyajit Ray) forever memorable by setting up a memorial museum in his ancestral home in the village of Masua in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj district to preserve his memories,” he said.

Jabbar said this while addressing a virtual discussion organized by the Greater Mymensingh Cultural Forum in the capital on the occasion of the birth centenary of Satyajit Ray, a renowned proverbial man of Mymensingh, a renowned filmmaker of the Indian subcontinent.

Ray is one of the best not only in Bengali films, but in all the films across the globe, Jabbar, also the President of Greater Mymensingh Cultural Forum, said.

Ray was a man of extraordinary talent and creativity, he said, adding that he had done a great job in creating Bengali typography including graphics-design.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, who also attended the programme, promised to complete the work (setting up a memorial museum in Satyajit Ray’s ancestral home) immediately.

Greater Mymensingh Somonnoy Parishad President Abul Kalam Azad, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr AHM Mustafizur Rahman, Former Secretary Abdus Samad, Prominent cultural personality M Hamid and Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samity President Misha Saudagar, among other, addressed it.
