AL urges rich to stand by working class people during crisis

DHAKA, April 30, 2021 (BSS) – The ruling Awami League has urged the affluent people to stand by working class, day laborers and jobless people during the ongoing crisis induced by the coronavirus pandemic.

The party made the call in a congratulatory and greetings message today on the eve of historic May Day that falls tomorrow.

AL extended greetings to all working class people of Bangladesh and all over the world on the occasion of the May Day.

“The entire world is facing a humanitarian crisis due to outbreak of coronavirus pandemic. Life and livings of working class people and laborers also fall victim of humanitarian crisis. Food aid is being reached to the doors of the day laborers, jobless and working class people on the behalf of the government, led by Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh,” the party said in the message.

Awami League leaders and workers and many affluent people of society also stood by the working class, day-laborers and distressed people side by side with the government, the message said.

AL urged the Industries Ministry to ensure safe and healthy working environment for workers as well as creating health awareness among workers to maintain health guidelines.

“Healthy working environment should be ensured with giving priority to health security of the worker brothers and sisters engaged with emergency services and works during this crisis period for the greater interest of the country and the nation,” it said.

The party said in the message that AL thinks working class people are the key driving force to the development of the country. Because of the relentless efforts of the working class people, Bangladesh is now on the highway of development and the country graduated to lower middle income status while the country’s potential future lies in the nonstop efforts of the working class people, it said.
