CHATTOGRAM, April 24, 2021 (BSS)- Food items have been distributed to 2000 families of Rangunia upazila at the personal initiative of Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.

NNK Foundation, the family organization of the Information Minister, organized the distribution function and delivered these iftar and food items to the needy at Nurjahan Community Center in Rangunia Upazila Sadar on Saturday.

Hasan virtually joined the distribution function as the chief from his official residence in Dhaka.

The Information and Broadcasting Minister called upon the leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated bodies in his constituency to come forward in aid of the day laborers, boatmen, rickshaw-van drivers and other low-income earners during the Corona period.

Earlier, the relief items were distributed among 1.25 crore families across the country in the first phase on behalf of Awami League, Hasan added.

“In my constituency of Rangunia, the relief items were delivered to more than 20,000 families in the first phase through the NNK Foundation at my personal initiative,” he added.

Hasan Mahmud said that during the one-year long Corona epidemic, no party other than Bangladesh Awami League stood beside the people.

The BNP leaders and the party were busy distributing scanty relief to the people, making only photo sessions and criticizing the government, he alleged.

Meanwhile, referring to instructions of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Information Minister directed the party leaders and workers in Rangunia to continue cooperating with the local farmers in paddy harvesting.

NNK Foundation Director Khaled Mahmud, Rangunia Municipality Mayor Shahjahan Sikder, Shilak UP Chairman Nazrul Islam Talukder, NNK Foundation officials Abdur Rauf Master, Jasim Uddin Talukder and Emrul Karim Rashed, Upazila Juba League President Shamsuddoha Sikder Arju and its Vice President Badiul Khair Liton Chowdhury, among others, spoke on the occasion.

The NNK Foundation sources said that food items would be distributed among the poor families in each union of Rangunia in phases.
