Fish, milk, egg, meat production will be surplus in 5 years: Razzaque

DHAKA, April 24, 2021 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister M Abdur Razzaque today said, the food production of the country would become surplus in next three to five years.

“The present government is trying to ensure nutritious food for the people of the country… In the next 10 years, Bangladesh will be self-sufficient in granular food and the production of fish, poultry, milk, eggs and meat output would be surplus within next three to five years,” he said.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a virtual discussion meeting organized by Bangabandhu Veterinary Council on the occasion of World Veterinary Day 2021, said a press release.

Addressing the veterinarians, the agriculture minister said the sector needs to be improved further through technology expansion and entrepreneurship to ensure nutritious and safe food for all.

Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Raunak Mahmud was the special guest at the meeting while Prof Dr A S Mahfuzul Bari presented the main article titled ‘Veterinarian Response to the Cavid-19 Crisis’.

Among others, the executive general secretary of Bangladesh Agricultural University Alumni, Sylhet Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Matiar Rahman Hawladar, Khulna Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Shahidur Rahman Khan and Professor Dr Bakrbi Bowers attended the discussion.
