CHANDPUR, April 17, 2021 (BSS) – Police arrested three people with 1,200kgs of jatka fish from the Harina Ferry Ghat area of Hanarchar union under Sadar upazila of the district last night.
The arrested were identified as Yusuf Hawlader, 25, resident of Hawladar Bari in Narsinghpur of Shariatpur district, Manu Mia Sikder, 23, of Sikdar Bari in the same area and Shahjahan Mia, 47, resident of Hasnabad village in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla district.
According to the Puranbazar outpost police in Chandpur city, on Friday at 3 pm on the basis of secret information, a large consignment of Jatkars was being smuggled from Harinaghat to Dhaka, at that time police conducted the raid in the area and arrested three persons in a truck and 1200 kgs of jatka seized from the truck, old market police outpost in-charge Jahangir Alam told BSS.
A case was filed in this connection, police official said.
The seized jatka fish were distributed this noon among the poor in the presence of Chandpur Court Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Kamal Hossain.
