DHAKA, April 10, 2021 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said that the failure to protect Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in independent Bangladesh has led to the rise of communal evil forces in the country.

The minister made the remark while addressing a webinar titled ‘Opposition to the Declaration of Independence, a Crime Equivalent to Sedition (Swadhinatar Ghoshonapottrer Birodhita, Rashtrodrohita tullo Oporadh) ‘ from his official residence on Baily Road in the capital.

“The governments that have been in power for 26 years outside the Awami League-led government continue to make heinous attempts to highlight the contribution of Zia by downplaying Bangabandhu’s fame,” he said.

One of the reasons for the rise of anti-independence and extremist communal evil forces in recent times is the inability to protect Bangabandhu, he said.

After independence, the pro-liberation forces were divided into different opinions and groups, but the anti-independence evil forces have united strongly, Rezaul added.

He said the pro-liberation forces united under the leadership of Bangabandhu fought the movement and the war of independence, adding that after independence some of them did not play a joint role in the management and reconstruction of the state under the leadership of Bangabandhu but created instability in the war-torn country.

He added that on that occasion, anti-independence domestic and foreign clique assassinated Bangabandhu to ruin the spirit of liberation war from Bangladesh.

He urged all the supporters of the liberation war to be united to thwart the recent conspiracies of the communal evil forces.

Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee President Shahriar Kabir conducted the programme while the author of the Proclamation of Independence of Bangladesh Barrister M Amir-ul Islam, vice-president of the Nirmul Committee Prof Muntasir Mamun and lawmaker Aroma Dutta also attended it, among others.
