Navy win gold in men’s basketball
DHAKA, April 8, 2021 (BSS)-Bangladesh Navy won the gold medal in the men’s basketball event of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games beating Bangladesh Army by 57-52 points in the final held today at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium in the city.
In the contesting final match, the first half was locked by 31-31 points.
Shamsuzzaman Soyeb was the highest scorer with 22 points and Mithun Biswas supported him with 13 points for Navy. Solayman Tonu scored 22 points while Borkot caged 10 points for Army.
Meanwhile, Rajshahi district bagged the bronze medal in this event defeating Bangladesh Air Force by 52-48 points in the place-deciding match held at the same venue. The winners’ dominated the first half by 28-27 points.
Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) secretary general Syed Shahed Reza was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes.
Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) president Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, BBF vice president Moinul Ahsan Monju, BBF general secretary AK Sarkar, BBF joint secretary Khairul Alom Farhad, were among others, present in the prize distribution ceremony.
