BOA expresses gratitude to PM

DHAKA, Apr 7, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Olympic Association’s (BOA) secretary general Syed Shahed Reza today expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for keeping the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games rolling despite the countrywide lockdown.

“I thank and is grateful to the Prime Minister as the game is being rolled. The games would not have taken place without the permission of the Prime Minister. She instructed us to hold the games as well as advised to maintain the health protocol in the games during the lockdown. The games is being held as per her instruction,” said Syed Shahed Reza while speaking as chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of taekwondo event at National Sports Council gymnasium.

The biggest achievement through these games are the new athletes, who have come up from different disciplines. With proper care, they will lead the country’s sports in future, he added.

The first gold for Bangladesh came in taekwondo in the Nepal South Asian Games held in December 2019. Referring to that Syed Shahed Reza said: “The first gold came from Taekwondo event in the SA Games in Kathmandu. ….. I want its continuity in the future. The BOA will always cooperate to taekwondo.”

BOA deputy secretary general Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation (BTF) president Advocate Kazi Morshed Hossain Kamal, BTF general secretary Mahmudul Islam Rana, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP’s director general Mizanur Rahman Shamim, among others, were also present on the occasion.
