Ansar, BKSP dominate judo on first day

DHAKA, April 7, 2021 (BSS)- Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) dominated the first day of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games Judo event that began today at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city.

Abu Raihan Shovu of BKSP won gold in the men’s 60kg weight category and Masud Rana of Bangladesh Army bagged the silver while Jomir Uddin Rony of Bangladesh Ansar and Sejan Ahmed Jahan of VDP joint bagged the bronze medal.

In the women’s 48kg weight category, Sharmin Akter Ontora of Bangladesh Ansar won gold and Sadia Khatun Bokul of BKSP bagged the silver while Sokhina of Chapainawabganj and Shapla Khatun of Bangladesh Army jointly secured the bronze medal.

In the men’s 55kg weight category, Mominul Islam of Bangladesh Army won gold and Mijanur Rahman of Border Guard Bangladesh secured the silver while Samsudohha Sourov of BKSP and Delwar Hossain of VDP jointly bagged the bronze medal.

In the women’s 44kg weight category, Priyanka Akter of Bangladesh Ansar won gold and Popi Khanom of Bangladesh Army secured the silver while Lina Soren of BKSP and Nilufa Akter of VDP jointly bagged the bronze medal.

Earlier, National Sports Council (NSC) Secretary Masud Karim formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest while NSC director Sheikh Hamim Hasan was present as the special guest.

Bangladesh Judo Federation president Foyzur Rahman and general secretary Shah Alom Sordar were also present in the inauguration ceremony.
