RAB-Police launch drive against health rule violators

DHAKA, April 6, 2021 (BSS) – Elite force RAB, police and other law
enforcement agencies are working across the country to increase public
awareness to ensure proper compliance with government directives in
the current situation of increasing Covid-19 cases.

RAB spokesman Khandaker Al Moin told BSS today that RAB is working
to increase public awareness regarding using masks across the country.
They are also providing free masks and sanitizers among commoners.

Besides, in some cases, RAB is also imposing fines through mobile
courts, said the official. A mobile court in collaboration with RAB-3
led by Executive Magistrate Palash Kumar Basu raided the Motijheel
Shapla Chattar area of the capital from 12 noon to 4 pm today.

At the end of the operation, RAB Executive Magistrate Palash Kumar
Bose told BSS that during the operation 25 people were fined Tk 12,100
for not following health rules and free masks were distributed among
more than 800 people.

He said that the objective of RAB is to create public awareness
among the people to prevent the spread of Covid-19 cases in the
country.

He said that 25 people were fined Tk 10,000 for not following the
health rules in a two-hour-long mobile court at Shahbagh in the
capital on Monday afternoon. About 2,500 masks were distributed in the
area at that time.

Meanwhile, Additional DIG of RAB-10 (Commander) Mahfuzur Rahman
said that a mobile court was set up at Jatrabari in the capital. A
drive was conducted today noon to raise awareness among the people
against Covid-19.

At that time, the mobile court realised a fine of one thousand taka
from 13 persons for not wearing masks. The official further said that
the mobile court also distributed 500 masks among the common people.

He also said that RAB will continue distributing masks, leaflets
and hand sanitizers across the country, including the capital Dhaka.

Besides, the patrol team of RAB has been distributing masks and
leaflets to create public awareness among the common people.

Meanwhile, traffic police and police in the capital are also
working to ensure health rules by setting up check-posts at various
points of the roads.

Besides, Dhaka North and South City Corporation, Dhaka District
Administration with the help of police are operating mobile courts in
various roads, terminals and markets, according to various sources.
