Stocks end week down

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2017 (BSS) – Stocks ended the week on Thursday downward trend with falling of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges.

The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 137.90 points down at 6,064.41. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 3.97 points down at 2,197.46 and 16.24 points down at 1333.67.

Out of the 335 issues traded on DSE, 73 gained against 246 losing issues.

The daily average trade value at DSE was 0.8 percent up at Taka 924.51 crore. But the trade volume was 7.7 percent down at 28.61 crore shares.

The top five gainers of the week were Style Craft, Metro Spinning, Sino Bangla, Megcon Milk and BRAC Bank. The major losing issues of the week were Aamra Net, SIMTEX, SHEPHERD, NCC Bank and Northern Insurance.

The top five turnover leaders were Lanka Bangla Finance, Uttara Bank, Islami Bank, BRAC Bank and Exim Bank.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 470.89 points lower at 18,825.92.
