29 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division
RANGPUR, March 29, 2021 (BSS) – Twenty-nine more people were diagnosed with
coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in the division while the infection
rate is showing a rising trend in recent weeks here.
Health officials said the 29 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376
samples at two COVID-19 laboratories in the division with the daily infection
rate of 7.71 percent.
Among the newly patients, five were reported positive after diagnosing 188
samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Rangpur
city.
“The five new patients include four from Rangpur and one from Kurigram
districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task
Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.
On the other hand, 24 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)COVID-19 laboratory in
Dinajpur today.
“The 24 new patients include 16 from Dinajpur, three each from Nilphamari
and Thakurgaon and two from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Prof
Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 6:55
pm.
Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 16,204 as 29 new positive cases were reported today from across the
division.
The district-wise break up of total 16,204 patients now stands at 4,162 in
Rangpur, 803 in Panchagarh, 1,392 in Nilphamari, 973 in Lalmonirhat, 1,032 in
Kurigram, 1,535 in Thakurgaon, 4,837 in Dinajpur and 1,490 in Gaibandha.
