Eight more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 20, 2021 (BSS) – Eight more people were reported coronavirus positive today in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the eight new cases were reported after diagnosing 261 samples at two COVID-19 laboratories in the division at the daily infection rate of 3.06 percent.

Among the eight new patients diagnosed, four were reported positive after diagnosing 73 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The four new patients include two from Gaibandha and one each from Kurigram and Nilphamari districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

On the other hand, four new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The four new patients include two each from Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process tonight.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 16,013 as eight new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 16,013 patients stands at 4,095 in Rangpur, 796 in Panchagarh, 1,371 in Nilphamari, 968 in Lalmonirhat, 1,028 in Kurigram, 1,521 in Thakurgaon, 4,757 in Dinajpur and 1,477 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
