DHAKA, March 18, 2021 (BSS) – Sounding a note of caution, Awami League joint general secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said any sorts of conspiracies and violence that can erode the achievement of the country would be dealt with iron hands.

“Conspiracy has begun since the country has been progressing fast indomitably under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter and at a time when the nation is going to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence and got the final recognition for Bangladesh’s transition to a developing nation from least-developed country status,” he said.

The minister stated these while addressing a discussion at Nagar Baban in the capital this evening. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) organized the discussion marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children Day.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury addressed the discussion as special guest with DSCC Mayor Barrister Fazle Nur Tapas in the chair.

Hasan said a fundamentalist force, at first, tried to create anarchy over the sculpture issue of Bangabandhu. And BNP-Jamaat fueled the conspiracy, he added.

He said now a new conspiracy has begun when international guests including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are coming to attend the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of the independence celebration programmes.

The minister said attacks were carried at the houses of minority community at Shalla upazila in Sunamganj aimed at eroding the achievements of the country made under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina before the international guests.

“Such incidents took place earlier also. Even, they torched the holy Quran. We want to say unequivocally, the government is determined to punish those culprits who carried out the attack, said Hasan.

Giving an open threat to kill the Prime Minister is an example of BNP’s fascist politics, he said, adding that this threat made it clear that BNP is plotting conspiracy.

The minister urged all including Awami League leaders and activists to remain alert against all conspiracies.

In the beginning, Hasan paid rich tribute to Bangabandhu and most of his martyred family members who were brutally killed on the fateful night of August 15.

Khalid Mahmud said the country is moving ahead under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Now, Bangladesh a role model before the world, he added.

Tapas said the conspirators tried to distort the history after the assassination of Bangabandhu. But, it was not possible to remove the name of Bangabandhu from the heart of the countrymen, he added.

Earlier, 22 new born babies on March 17 under the hospitals of DSCC were given civic reception in the programme.
