Four to die, 5 get life term for killing medicine trader in Khulna

KHULNA, March 18, 2021 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced four people to death and five others to life term for killing Feroz Sheikh, a medicine trader of Katenga Bazar area under Terokhada upazila in Khulna on August 15, 2010.

Additional District and Session Judge Md Yearob Hossain pronounced the verdict this afternoon in the crowded court.

The court also acquitted four among the 13 accused as charges against them were not proven.

The convicted who are sentenced to death are Farid Molla, Misbah Molla, Mortoza Molla and Tutul Molla. The life term five convicted criminals are Mukto Molla, Shahedul Shikder, Selim Shikder, Nasir Shikder and Mehedi Molla.

The four acquitted are Khalid Molla, Nazmul Shikder, Raza Sheikh and Osman Fakir.

Court sources said, Criminals chopped Firoz Sheikh at his medicine shop in previous enmity and left the spot on August 15 in 2010. He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) in critically condition and succumbed to injuries on the next day.

His brother Hiru Sheikh filed a murder case against 30 people as naming accused with Terokhada Police Station on August 18, 2010.

Abdur Razzak, Assistant Superintendent of Police and also Investigation Officer pressed charge sheet against 13 to Khulna district and session court on December 6 in 2013.
