‘Strengthen hands of Sheikh Hasina for materializing dreams of Bangabandhu’

DHAKA, March 17, 2021 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today urged the people of the country to strengthen the hands Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to materialize dreams of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“Bangabandhu dedicated his life for the well-being of Bangalees… We have got an independent Bangladesh under the courageous and farsighted leadership of Bangabandhu,” he told a discussion at the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu here, an official release said.

Maleque said Bangabandhu inspired freedom-loving Bangalee nation to participate in the War of Liberation. Bangladesh emerged as an independent country in the world map through nine-month bloody war, he added.

The health minister said, “The history of Bangladesh and life of Bangabandhu are synonymous… we are lucky that we are participating in the birth centenary programme of the greatest Bengali of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

Maleque said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has attached highest priority allocating significant amount of the total budget. As a result, the country witnessed a considerable progress in the health sector, he added.

The minister said when the whole world is struggling to contain COVID-19 pandemic, Bangladesh is successfully tackling the lethal virus because of sincere and effective leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Secretary of Health Service Division Abdul Mannan, Additional Director General (Administration) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Nasima Sultana and Additional Director General (Planning) Prof Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, among others, addressed the discussion with DGHS Director General Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam in the chair.
