Ziaur, Aminul take joint lead

DHAKA, March 11, 2021 (BSS) – GM Ziaur Rahman and FM Khandaker Aminul Islam took joint lead in the points table with maximum three points after the third round matches of the Invitational phase of the Bangabandhu International Rating Chess tournaments held today.

Five players are sharing the second slot closely with 2.5 points. They are IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, CM Sharif Hossain, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman.

Eight players are sharing the third slot with two points. They are GM Enamul Hossain Razib, FM Debaraj Chatterjee, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag, FM Subrota Biswas, Anata Choudhury, Shafiq Ahmed, CM Sohel Chowdhury and CM Tahsin Tajwar Zia.

The third round games of the invitation phase were held today (Thursday) at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room. In 2nd round matches, GM Zia beat FM Parag, FM Amin beat FM Debaraj, IM Fahad beat Mihir Lal Das, IM Minhaz got walk-over against CM Sharon, FM Nasir beat Delwar Hossain, CM Sharif beat FM Mojhammad Javed, FM Mahfuz beat Sadnan Hasan Dihan, GM Razib beat CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed, FM Subrota defeated Mohammad Shameem, Anata beat Swarnavo Choudhury, Shafiq beat FM Saif Uddin, CM Sohel Sariatullah, CM Manon Reja Neer split point with Wadifa Ahmed, CM Tahsin beat Masum Hossain, CM Jamal Uddin beat Avik Sarker.

On the other hand, eleven players are sharing lead in the points table with maximum three points in the below 2100 rating phase. They are FM Eunus Hasan, Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, Abu Hanif, Jodunath Biswas, Afzal Hossain Sacchu, Karim M Shahin, Mortuza Mahathir Islam, Rashedul Haque, Sabya Sachi Mondal, Jewel Khan and Tipu Sultan.

The third round games of the below 2100 phase were held today at Shaheed captain Sheikh Kamal auditorium lounge of National Sports Council tower.

In the third round games of below-2100 phase, FM Eunus beat Mazharul Kabir, Mostafa beat Belal, Hanif beat Mowla, Jodunath beat Shahidul, Sacchu beat Sazzad, Shahin beat Sarwar, Mortuza beat Ariful, Rashed beat Moni, Sabyasachi beat Shafiqul, Jewel beat Bablu and Tiup beat Shuvo.

The fourth round games of both divisions will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 3 pm at the same venues.
