DNCC starts coordinated Culex mosquito eradication drive
DHAKA, March 8, 2021 (BSS) – The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) today
started a coordinated crash programme to eradicate Culex mosquito that will
continue till March 16 except Friday.
All the DNCC workers related to mosquito control and cleanliness,
including officials and staff of the mosquito control department, are
simultaneously participating in the drive, said a press release.
The drive is being carried out in two phases everyday from 6am to 12 noon
and 4pm to 6pm, it added.
On the first day, the mosquito eradication team, including regional
executive officers and executive magistrates, of the DNCC conducted the drive
at Mirpur 2 (Region 2).
The team will conduct the drive at Mirpur 10 (Region 4) on March 9, Karwan
Bazar (Region 5) on March 10, Mohakhali (Region 3) on March 11, Bhatara
(Region 9) and Satarkul (Region 10) on March on March 13, Uttara (Region 1)
on March 14, Dakshin Khan (Region 7) and Uttar Khan (Region 8) on March 15,
and Harirampur (Region 6) 16 March.
DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam visited Sagufta canal at Pallabi, Indoor
Stadium, Mirpur-6 and Milkvita area at 7.30am and Mirpur-13 at 4pm as part of
monitoring the mosquito eradicating drive.
Besides, a regular case has been filed against Bangladesh Milk Producer’s
Co-Operative Union Ltd. (Milkvita) as the institutions did not comply with
the official notices for several times over removing waste and destroy
mosquito larva inside it.
In addition, five cases were filed against different persons and
institutions as mosquito larva was found at their respective houses or
institutions while they were Taka 71,000 in this regard.
