Historic March 7 observed befittingly in Rangpur

RANGPUR, March 7, 2021 (BSS) – The historic March 7 was observed here in a
befitting manner today paying rich tribute to Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with a fresh pledge for building a
developed Sonar Bangla.

The divisional, district and police administrations, Rapid Action
battalion (RAB)-13, other government departments, Awami League (AL) and its
associate bodies chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.

The observance began with hoisting of the national flag followed by
placing of wreaths at the portrait and mural of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and playing of the historic 7th March
speech of Bangabandhu.

Divisional Commissioner Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Deputy Inspector General of
Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police
Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud and Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan and
Police Super Biplob Kumar Sarker first placed wreaths at Bangabandhu’s mural
at Bangabandhu Square in the city.

Later, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa with high officials and
City Councilors of Rangpur City Corporation placed wreaths there.

After hoisting national and party flags and placing wreaths at the
portrait of Bangabandhu at their respective offices, leaders of district and
city units of AL and its associate bodies went to Bangabandhu Square and
placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu there.

Patriotic songs were rendered and the epoch-making historic 7th March
speech delivered by Bangabandhu on this day at the Race Course Maidan in 1971
was played across the city throughout the day.

District unit of AL organised the main discussion at its office with its
President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in the chair while its General Secretary
Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju moderated the event.

Vice-president of district AL Advocate Elias Ali, it’s Joint Secretary
Professor Mazed Ali Babul, Office Secretary Amin Sarker and Publicity and
Publication Affairs’ Secretary Latifa Shawkat, President of district Mohila
AL Mortuza Mansur and its General Secretary Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite,
among others, addressed.

President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi presided over another discussion
moderated by its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal at city AL office
marking the historic 7th March.

The speakers highlighted the special significance of the historic 7th March
this year as the Bangalee nation is celebrating the centenary birth
anniversary of Bangabandhu throughout the year.

They termed the epoch-making 7th March speech of Bangabandhu as the clear
announcement of independence and all-time best speech that would continue to
inspire the nation from generations to generations.

Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju said the historic 7th March speech of
Bangabandhu instantly united the whole nation to participate in the War of
Liberation and snatched away independence from the occupation forces.

Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed said the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu
contains clear directions for the nation to launch the ultimate struggle for
national freedom.
