DHAKA, March 5, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today give emphasis on sports for the benefit of children and announced acquisition of land if necessary for preparing playground in every ward under the city corporation area.
The DSCC Mayor made this announcement while visiting third round football match under inter-ward sports competition-2021 at Karim Jute Mills playground in Demra this afternoon.
“We have taken an initiative of preparing playground in every ward…we want that our children will come back to the ground and engage them in sports,” he said. The inter-ward sports competition-2021 was organized marking the Mujib Borsho (birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman).
The Mayor said, “If there is any necessity, we will acquire government land for preparing playground for the children as there is no adequate land in every ward. Meantime, we have recovered few lands in some ward and arrangement is underway to prepare it as playground. We are hopeful that we will success in phases.”
Manirul Islam Monu, MP, of Dhaka-5, AL’s Dhaka city South unit joint general secretary Kazi Morshed Hosen Kamal, DSCC’s sports and cultural standing committee chairman M Mokaddes Hossen Jahid, regional executive officer of zone-Shahidul Islam and local councilors, among others, attended the meeting.
Elaborating the city corporation’s initiative against the mosquito menace in the city, the Mayor said programme will be taken against curbing prevalence of Dengu from April this year and action plan against the Culex mosquitoes from November this year.
