Buddhist monk Tejapriya passes away
CHATTOGRAM, July 15, 2018 (BSS)- The elderly Buddhist monk and high priest of Moheskhali Saikat Buddhist monastery Venerable Tejapriya Mohastavira died of old age complications at a city hospital this afternoon.
He was 89, hospital sources said.
Venerable Tejapriya, a founder of many religious and philanthropic organizations, had been suffering from various diseases for long.
The death of the elderly religious leader cast a pall of gloom in the Buddhist community.
Leaders of Bangladesh Sangaraj Bhikkhu Mohasava (Monastic order) including its senior Vice President Venerable Shasanapriya Mohastavira and Secretary General S.Lokojit Thero and a large number of devotees thronged to the city’s Max hospital to pay homage to their religious leader.
The mortal remains were taken to his hermitage at Moheskhali Saikat Buddhist monastery tonight.
The body would be kept preserved there for few months for ceremonial cremation at a convenient time.
