5 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Feb 25, 2021 (BSS) – Five more people were tested COVID-19 positive today raising the total number of corona virus infected patients to 15,832 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported after diagnosing 182 samples at the infection rate of 2.75 percent today in the division where the COVID-19 vaccination continues smoothly amid declining infection rate.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 0.94 percent on Wednesday, 1.24 percent on Tuesday, 5.75 percent on Monday, 1.63 percent on Sunday, 2.82 percent on Saturday and 1.89 percent on Friday last in the division.

All five new patients were reported positive after diagnosing 88 collected samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The five new patents include three from Rangpur and one each from Lalmonirhat and Kurigram,” said Chief of Divisional Corona virus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

“In the meantime, none was reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,835 as five new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,835 patients stands at 4,044 in Rangpur, 794 in Panchagarh, 1,328 in Nilphamari, 965 in Lalmonirhat, 1,020 in Kurigram, 1,512 in Thakurgaon, 4,710 in Dinajpur and 1,462 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
