Asrorov denies Abahani’s victory
DHAKA, Feb 20, 2021 (BSS) – Tajikistan defender Siyovush Asrorov scored a goal in the dying moment as Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited denied Abahani Limited, Dhaka from victory as they came from behind forced Abahani to play 1-1 goal draw in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football held today.
Held at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS),it was the incident of 90+2nd minute. Abahani were couple of minutes far from to celebrate their victory but probably more drama was remained in the match as Asrorov suddenly scored a much-needed goal to restore the parity for Sheikh Russel, stunning the Abahani’s fans in the bog bowl.
Earlier, striker Saad Uddin put Abahani Limited ahead in the 25th minute and the sky blue Dhanmondi outfit maintained the lead till the ninety minutes as Sheikh Russel KC failed to penetrate Abahani’s net despite creating several scoring chances.
But, it was Asrorov who suddenly changed the scenario of the match scoring the goal in the final moment, snatching at least one point for his team. With the day’s outcome, the Dhanmondi outfit secured 22 points from ten matches while Sheikh Russel collected 17 points from nine outings.
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Abahani Limited both will play their next matches against holders Bashundhara. Sheikh Russel KC will meet Bashundhara Kings on February 24 at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla while Abahani Limited will play against Bashundhara Kings scheduled to be held on February 28 at BNS.
Monday’s matches: Bangladesh Police Football Club vs Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at BNS at 3.30 pm, Brothers Union Club vs Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra at BNS at 6 pm.
