Over 20,811 receive COVID-19 vaccines in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 16, 2021 (BSS) – More 20,811 citizens were immunised with the
COVID-19 vaccines at government hospitals today raising the total number of
vaccine recipients to 1,27,449 in Rangpur division.

“The 20,811 citizens who were inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines today
include 13,476 males and 7,335 females,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md.
Ahad Ali told BSS here this evening.

The total 1,27,449 citizens immunised so far with COVID-19 vaccines in all
eight districts of the division include 86,973 males and 40,476 females.

Earlier, 31,618 citizens were immunised with the vaccines on Monday, 15,218
on Sunday, 17,542 on Saturday, 19,380 on Thursday, 14,224 on Wednesday,
10,237 on Tuesday, 5,503 on Monday and 2,912 citizens on Sunday (February 7)
last.

The district-wise break-up of total 1,27,449 vaccine recipients stands at
23,859 in Rangpur, 13,401 in Panchagarh, 17,250 in Nilphamari, 8,386 in
Lalmonirhat, 11,440 in Kurigram, 13,828 in Thakurgaon, 27,179 in Dinajpur and
12,106 in Gaibandha.

“Common people are showing their huge eagerness and rushing to the
vaccination centres in a festive mood for taking the COVID-19 vaccines in all
eight districts of Rangpur division,” Dr. Ali added.

Talking to BSS, Rangpur Sadar upazila Chairman Nasima Zaman Boby said she
along with her husband who is President of district Swechchasebak League
Sirajul Islam Pramanik took the vaccine on Monday at Rangpur Medical College
Hospital.

“Like my husband, I felt no side effects since taking the COVID-19 vaccines
and we are feeling alright,” Boby said, and suggested everyone to take the
vaccine safely without any hesitation to make the country free from
Coronavirus.

Superintendent of Rangpur Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital Dr. SM Nurun
Nabi took the COVID-19 vaccines along with his other colleges and staff at
Rangpur Sadar Upazila Health Complex on February 9 last.

“Like my colleagues, I did not experience notable side effects,” said Dr.
Nabi, and called upon everyone to take the COVID-19 vaccines safely to
ultimately free the country from the deadly virus.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu
expressed happiness over the satisfaction of citizens while taking the
vaccines in a festive atmosphere.

“Even after taking the vaccines, people should abide by the health
directives despite smooth progress of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign amid
a declining infection rate and rising recovery rate in the division,” Dr.
Lyzu said.
