Five more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 15, 2021 (BSS) – Five more people were tested for COVID-19
positive today in Rangpur division where the vaccination campaign continues
smoothly amid declining infection rate during the last two months.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported today after
diagnosing 184 samples at the daily infection rate of about 2.72 percent.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 1.82 percent on Sunday,
2.99 percent on Saturday, 2.22 percent on Friday, 1.86 percent on Thursday
and 1.77 percent on Wednesday last in the division.

Among the five new patients diagnosed today, only one hailing from
Rangpur district was reported positive after diagnosing 90 samples at the
COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

Meanwhile, four new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in
Dinajpur today.

“All of four new patients are hailing from different upazilas in
Dinajpur district,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told
BSS after completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS at 8:30 pm, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant
Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of
COVID-19 patients rose to 15,808 as five new positive cases were reported
from across the division today.

The district-wise breakup of the total 15,808 patients stands at 4,034
in Rangpur, 759 in Panchagarh, 1,327 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,019
in Kurigram, 1,509 in Thakurgaon, 4,707 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha
districts.
