AL candidate wins Shibganj municipality polls
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Feb 14, 2021 (BSS)- Awami League (AL) candidate Syed Monirul Islam with ‘boat’ symbol has been unofficially declared elected as mayor of Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj district today.
He got 15,741 votes and his nearest candidate Md. Oziul Islam of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) with ‘sheaf of paddy’ got 9,999 votes.
Chapainawabganj District Election Officer and the Returning Officer Md. Motawakkil Rahman announced the results tonight.
A total of three candidates participated in the Shibganj Municipality polls for the mayoral post.
The number of the voters in Shibganj Municipality was 32,979 in which 16,432 male and 16,547 female. The voters cast their votes at 15 centres through Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), election office sources said.
