AL candidate elected mayor of Netrakona municipality
NETRAKONA Feb 14, 2021 (BSS ) – Awami League (AL) nominated candidate Nazrul Islam Khan, was elected mayor of Netrakona municipality in the election held here today in a free fair and peaceful manner.
Returning Officer also District Election Officer Abdul Latif Sheikh declared the election’s results here tonight.
According to the polls results, AL nominated candidate Nazrul Islam Khan with the election symbol‘boat’ won the election by securing 29,563 votes while his nearest rival candidate Abdullah AL Mamun Khan Roni with election symbol ‘sheaf of paddy’ from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) bagged 9,995 votes.
Three candidates contested in the polls for the mayoral post.
The voting was held through Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and the voting started at 8 am and continued till 4 pm in 32 centers without any intermission.
