5 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Feb 14, 2021 (BSS) – Five more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19

infection today in Rangpur division where the vaccination campaign continues smoothly

amid declining infection rate during the last two months.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported today after diagnosing 165

samples at the daily infection rate of about 3.03 percent.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 2.99 percent on Saturday, 2.22 percent

on Friday, 1.86 percent on Thursday, 1.77 percent on Wednesday, 2.93 percent on Tuesday

and 0.68 percent on Monday last in the division.

Among five new patients diagnosed today, only one from Rangpur district was reported

positive after diagnosing 71 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical

College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

Meanwhile, four new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19

Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“ The rest four new patients are residents of different upazilas in Dinajpur district,”

Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the

testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur

division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,805 as five new

positive cases were reported from across the division today.

The district-wise break up of the total 15,805 patients stands at 4,033 in Rangpur, 790

in Panchagarh, 1,327 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,019 in Kurigram, 1,509 in

Thakurgaon, 4,705 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts.
