DSCC 1st Inter Ward Sports competition begins
DHAKA, Feb 10, 2021 (BSS)- The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) 1st Inter Ward Sports Competition (football and cricket) began from today through a football match held at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).
On the day’s opening match, Ward no. 58 beat Ward no. 2 by 3-1 goals in the penalty shootout after the regulation time ended in a goalless draw.
DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh was the chief guest in the opening ceremony while Bangladesh Football Federation’s president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin was present as the special guest.
Meanwhile, the cricket event will be inaugurated on February 16 at the outer stadium adjoining the BNS.
A total of 63 football teams and 64 cricket teams from 75 wards of DSCC are taking part in the knock out basis sports festival, which is being held for the first time marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Organised by DSCC, a total of 13 grounds in the city will host the football and cricket matches of the competition.
The champions of both football and cricket teams will receive Taka five lakh while the runners-up teams will get Taka three lakh as prize money.
The man of the tournament in football and man of the series in cricket will get Taka 20,000 each.
Modhumoti Bank Limited is the platinum sponsor while Orion Group is the gold sponsor of the competition.
