Employment to be created by opening closed mills of BTMC: Golam Dastagir Gazi

DHAKA, Jan 27, 2021 (BSS) – Textiles and Jute Minister Golam
Dastagir Gazi (Bir Protik), MP, today said the closed mills of
Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC) would be reopened through
Public-private partnership to create new jobs.

“Bangladesh is the first country in the world to take the
initiative to reopen the country’s closed textile mills through PPP
(Public Private Partnership). If these closed mills are reopened, new
employment opportunities will be created in these industries,” he
said.

He made the remarks at a meeting with stakeholders on modernization
of textile mills under BTMC through PPP at a city hotel.

Ministry of Textiles and Jute Secretary Lokman Hossain Miah, Public
Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) Chief Executive and BTMC chairman
Brigadier General Md Jakir Hossain were present, among others, on the
occasion.
