PM’s house gift in ‘Mujib Barso a great delight for landless people

KHULNA, Jan 24, 2021 (BSS) – Ultra Poor and landless people of Khulna got pleasant and expressed satisfaction after getting 3,225 new houses as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the Mujib Year (Mujib Barso) under the first phase of Asrayan-2 Project in Khulna division.

Talking to BSS, a number of ‘Ka’ category beneficiary families of Dumuria upazila in Khulna district who got new houses with land ownership documents yesterday expressed happiness and conveyed heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister .

Marginal Farmer Pachu Kazi, 65, and his wife Felani Khatun, 56, who got a new house at Kathalpara village of Atalia Union of Dumuria upazila, said they never thought that fortune would smile on them .

“We had no land and house, we passed a hardship life with our four children as marginal farmers,” Pachu expressed his feelings with emotional voice and thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for bringing a lease ofnnew life to them.

Mahtab Hossain, 50, a vegetable vendor of village Kathalpara in the same upazila said he led a miserable life since her parents died in his early age.

“I slept on the barandha of a primary school on the night,” he said, adding that his happiness knows no bounds after getting a house at Atalia Asrayan-2 Project village from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday.

Arabindo Mondal, 63, a day-labourer of village Baliakhali in the same upazila said “I spent hard days with my wife Purnima, 55, and three children. We are now very happy after getting a new house.”

Shahela Begum, 52, of village Sahaos of the upazila said she had no house to sleep and everything changed after getting a new house from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Beneficiaries Sunil das, 62, and Abdur Rahman of Bagmara Union of Rupsha village in Khulna expressed happiness with emotion after getting a new house from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and hoped to live in peace through rebuilding his life anew.

The beneficiaries prayed for a long life, sound health and continuous success of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in serving the nation to build a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ dreamt of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Talking to BSS, Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md Helal Hossain said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over 3,225 new houses including 922 in the division with land ownership documents through a videoconferencing to homeless families yesterday.

“Asrayan Project, one of the Prime Minister’s 10 special initiatives, aims at ensuring shelter for all homeless people to help them rebuild life, improve living standard and health care and skilled development on income generating activities,” he added.
