28,656 Ansar-VDP members deployed at Rangpur Puja mandaps

RANGPUR, Sept 27, 2017 (BSS) – The authorities concerned have deployed 28,656 trained male and female members of Ansar-VDP at 5,107 mandaps for ensuring peaceful celebrations of the five-day Durga Puja festivities in Rangpur division.

“Deployment of the members of Ansar-VDP has been completed for five days to ensure security and safety at the Puja mandaps from September 26 to 30 next,” a press release issued here by Rangpur Range Office of Ansar-VDP said today.

Among the mandaps set in all eight district headquarters and 58 upazila towns and rural areas in the division, 1,365 Puja mandaps are being considered as more important, 1,384 as important and 2,358 others as common in point of security perspectives.

The authorities have deployed 4, 6 and 8 members of male and female Ansar-VDP at each of these mandaps depending on importance security category to ensure safety with assistance of the police forces for peaceful celebrations of the Durga Puja.

Of them, the trained Ansar-VDP members have been deployed at 864 Puja mandaps in Rangpur, 485 in Kurigram, 573 in Gaibandha, 421 in Lalmonirhat, 837 in Nilphamari, 1,210 in Dinajpur, 445 in Thakurgaon and 272 Puja mandaps in Panchagarh districts.

A platoon Commander and an Assistant Platoon Commander are leading these Ansar-VDP groups at every Puja mandap to ensure easy movement of the devotees.

“Director of Rangpur Range of Ansar-VDP Kazi Shakhawat Hossain has
directed District Commandants and Upazila Ansar-VDP Officers to ensure proper monitoring of law and order round the clock at all Puja mandaps,” the release said.

The Ansar-VDP officials are working in coordination with officials of the Puja Mandap Supervision Committees for peaceful celebrations of Durga Puja, the greatest religious festival of the Bangali Hindu community.
