Sheikh Jamal notch second win in BPL
DHAKA, Jan 21, 2021 (BSS)- Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club recorded their second successive victory in the Bangladesh Premier League Football beating Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 2-1 goals in their second round match held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
With the day’s win, Sheikh Jamal improved their tally securing six points, equal with Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Abahani Limited, from two matches while Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra failed to secure any point from one match.
In the day’s match, Gambian forward Pa Omar Jobe and his fellowman Suloman King Kanform scored one goal each in each half to secure victory for Sheikh Jamal while Mehedi Hasan scored the lone goal for Muktis in the dying moment of the second half.
Omar put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 38th minute while after the resumption Solomon doubled the lead in the 60th minute of the match.
Mehedi Hasan pulled one back scoring a lone goal for the freedom fighters in the 90+3rd minute of the match.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory on the day while the freedom fighters were totally off-colored, except the day’s lone goal.
Muktijoddha Sangsad KC will play their next match against Arambagh Krira Sangha on January 24 at Bir Fight lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj while Sheikh Jamal will meet the same opponents (Arambagh Krira Sangha)on January 27 at BNS.
Earlier, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-1 goals in their league opening match.
Saturday’s matches: Bashundhara Kings vs Brothers Union Club at Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Comilla at 3 pm at, Abahani Limited, Dhaka vs Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at 3.30 at BNS and Bangladesh Police Football Club vs Uttar Baridhara Club at 6 pm at BNS.
