7 burnt as fire breaks out at workshop in city

DHAKA, Jan 16, 2021 (BSS) – At least seven persons, including a driver and an employee, were burnt in a fire while repairing a car at a gas  workshop in Gulshan Link Road area of Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station here today.

They were junior engineer of the workshop Sakibul Islam Shimul,25, employee Jewel ,32, Rabiul Islam, 24, Sunam, 20, private car driver Ali Akbar, 50, Haider Ali, 22 and Rubel Hawlader ,27.

Being informed, the police and local people rescued them and sent them to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Tejgaon Industrial Area Officer-in-Charge (OC) Biplob Kumar Shil confirmed the incident to BSS.

He said the accident took place at the Napolist LPG gas workshop near Shanta Tower on Gulshan Link Road in Tejgaon around 2pm on Saturday.

The OC said a vehicle was taken to the Napolist LPG gas workshop near Shanta Tower on Link Road in the capital around 2pm for repairing works.

As the car’s engine was hot, the fire broke out there due to the gas, he said, adding that at that time seven people of the workshop were burnt.

The fire service and police are investigating into the cause of the fire. If any negligence is found, action will be taken accordingly, OC added.
