Govt putting best efforts for modernization of agriculture: Palak

NATORE, Jan 15, 2021 (BSS) – Terming the current government as agriculture-friendly, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak today said the incumbent government is working to modernize agriculture sector to improve the quality and enhance agri-outputs.

“The government has taken initiatives to install underground sensor to get proper ideas about the underground environment consisting soil, water, oil, and other components,” the state minister made the remarks while virtually inaugurating 7.8 km long Srikunda canal excavation involving Tk 60 lakh at Sukash union in Singra upazila of the district.

After excavation work of the canal, crops on 3,000 acres of land in the area will be protected from water logging.

Palak said a complete idea about the quality of soil can be obtained through Geo Special Survey. Considering the quality of the soil, the farmers will be able to plant and harvest crops in time and they also will be able to know about weather.

“Nowadays, farmers do not need to go to lenders for money to buy fertilizers and other agri-inputs…They also have not to face lawsuits if they fail to repay loan as the current government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is agriculture friendly and it is providing all the supports whatever the cultivators need,” he said.

He said 100 km of canals have been excavated in the last 12 years in Singra upazila which solved problems regarding water logging in the locality, he continued.
