22,909 recover from Covid-19 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 15, 2021 (BSS) – With recoveries of 45 more COVID-19 patients yesterday, the number of total cured patients from the lethal disease in the division now reached 22,909, said an official report.

A total of 2,908 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, it said.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, today said the death toll from the virus rose to 379 including 236 in Bogura and 54 in Rajshahi with no fatality reported for the third consecutive day today.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,355 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,609 have been released.

Meanwhile, with detection of 18 new more positive cases in five districts under the Rajshahi division on Thursday, one of the lowest in daily infection compared to the previous couple of weeks, the total number of infected patients in the division has risen to 24,872, Dr Habibul Ahsan said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest six were detected in Rajshahi including five in its city followed by four each in Natore and Pabna and two each in Bogura and Sirajganj districts.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the reported COVID-19 cases now stands at 5,901 in Rajshahi including 4,418 in its city, 818 in Chapainawabganj, 1,571 in Naogaon, 1,219 in Natore, 1,340 in Joypurhat, 9,701 in Bogura, 2,678 in Sirajganj and 1,644 in Pabna.

Dr Habibul Ahsan said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.
